Welcome to our 2009-2010 Season. Each chorus is off to a great start and we are all excited for what this year will bring.

To build community among all the Rogue Valley Choruses the directors are preparing for the 2nd annual retreat. We will be working on music for our upcoming concerts and finale pieces with the other choirs. It is very important that your child attend. If you have family obligations or are unable to attend, please contact your child's director as soon as possible. This event will be held on October 24th at the First United Methodist Church on West Main St. from 2:00p.m. - 5:30p.m. Parents are invited to attend from 4:30-5:30 for an informational meeting and a chance to hear the choirs perform. A snack will be provided. Watch for a flyer coming home.

Concert attire is either being ordered or fittings are being made. Watch for a newsletter to see what you are responsible for providing for your child. It is very important to follow the guidelines as we want to look as professional and polished as possible.

Once again thank you so much for your support of all of our choirs and for providing us with such talented young people that make being a part of this program something special.

First order of business for Cantare is that there will be rehearsal this Tuesday which is Veteran's Day. Rehearsal will begin at 3:50 and end at 5:50 at our normal rehearsal sight. (snacks will be provided).
Also your attention should be focused on our new outfits!!!! Approval has been given by the RVYC Steering Committee to purchase new outfits. Skirts and blouses have been ordered for the girls and dress shirts, bow ties and cummerbunds for the boys. The singer's family needs to provide black tights, and black flat dress shoes (ballet flats) for the girls. The boys need to provide their own black pants (style specified in handbook), black socks and black shoes.
With the significant expense that it being put out for these outfits we trust that all parents will take special care in the laundering and storage of them.
Singers please continue to use your c.d's to hammer out the notes and rhythms so that rehearsal can be spent on the musicality of each piece.

A few items to note for the Children's Chorus is that they will also rehearse on Tuesday Nov. 11th at the regular time 4:30- 6:00.
Also your singer needs to be delivered to Rogue Valley Manor at 6:30p.m. on Thursday Nov. 13th. The performance begins at 7:00 and parents are invited to attend but we ask that you reserve the front seats for our Manor audience.
All singers should wear their blue performing shirts, black slacks, black socks and black shoes. See here to check the handbook for specifics.
Program will conclude st 8:00p.m.

Youth Choruses Saturday Retreat

Exciting news for the RV Youth Chorus singers. Hopefully you have all received a note about our Saturday Retreat. Here is the information needed:
Where : Westminster Presbyterian Church (2000 Oakwood Drive)
Between Siskiyou and East Main Streets on Groveland
Park in the South parking lot and enter through the double glass doors

When: Saturday Oct. 18, 2008 3:00-6:30 p.m.
3:00-5:00 **Chorus Rehearsal** All singers should attend!!
Discovery Chorus--Music Room (south entrance)
Children's Chorus--Worship Hall (north end of building)
Cantare Chorus--Gathering Place (north end of building)

4:45 Parent Information Meeting
Bring calendars, RVYC handbooks, and any questions

5:00 All Choruses--informal performance--Sanctuary

5:30 Potluck Dinner for singers and their families
Please bring a food item to share for a casual dinner together at the church. There will be plenty of food for all. No worries. Drinks, plates and silverware will be provided. Come and relax, get to know other RVYC families and take pride in you child's successes. To assist with the coverage of the basic meal courses, please follow the "food suggestions" below based on last names.

We are so excited to begin a new season. Welcome to all new singers. We hope by beginning this blog it will serve as a useful tool for parents to access the most updated information and bridge the communication gap that can occur with a large organization.
